The Basilica del Voto Nacional is one of the most spectacular and beautiful churches in the city. It is located on a steep hill of the city Quito, it can be seen from almost any point of the city, specially at night when illuminated. The Basilica is the largest church in Ecuador and throughout Latin America. It is one of the largest and most recent churches in Ecuador, it consists of 24 chapels and something very interesting is that 22 of them represent the number of provinces. It stands out because all of its carvings represent the flora and fauna. In the Basilica to be able to reach the highest point of the church you will need to go through a bridge that leads to hanging some steep and narrow stairs. The hours you can go are from Monday to Sunday 9:00am to 5:00pm, and the entry fee is USD 2.00. I would recommend that you go in the afternoon and stay until night to be able to admire the church illuminated.
